Online game for Deadlands IP in the making
The Vienna/Frankfurt based production company Cliffhanger Productions has acquired the exclusive rights to the award winning “Deadlands” Western-RPG license from Pinnacle Entertainment Group. “Deadlands” has sold over a million collectible card games, hundreds of thousands of copies of the pen and paper RPG products, as well as novels, comics, and miniatures, and won numerous fan and industry awards.
Cliffhanger Productions has joined forces with Vienna based development studio Mi'pu'mi to develop an online browser game based on the internationally renowned IP. Shane Lacy Hensley – original creator of the IP and veteran online games designer – will be fully involved in the project.
Hensley says:”This is the perfect venue for Deadlands, allowing us to concentrate on content and stories in the fast, fun, and friendly interface Cliffhanger and Mi'pu'mi have already established and polished. I can't wait to join up with my own posse and explore the Weird West with players around the globe!”
Jan Wagner, Managing Director of Cliffhanger Productions, agrees: ”We are very excited to work with Shane directly on this very unique project and to be able to profit from his experience and creativity. We think browser games have come to a point where an infusion of fresh gameplay and originality is necessary to prevent the market becoming crowded by a slate of near identical products – and we will provide just that.”
